(1) Subject to such rules as may be prescribed, a market committee may appoint such officers or employ such servants as may be necessary for the management of the market and may pay such officers and servants such salaries as it may think fit and shall have power to control and punish them. (2) The market committee may also provide for the payment to its officers and servants of such leave, allowances, pensions, gratuities or compassionate allowances, as it deems proper and may contribute to any provident fund which may be established for the benefit of such officers and servants. (3) The market committee shall, in the case of any officer or servant of the Government whom it employs, make such contribution towards his pension and leave allowances, as may be required by the conditions of his service under the Government to be paid by him or on his behalf. (4) The Chairman, Vice-Chairman and every officer or servant of a market committee shall be deemed to be a public servant within the meaning of section 21 of the Indian Penal Code (Central Act 45 of 1860). 11 Supersession of market committee.
