( 1 ) The Academic Council shall, subject to Powers and the provisions of this Act and the Statutes, have the ruRcLiDns or the poNer to make regulations providing for the courses Academic of study and shall have general control over teaching, COUnCa. research and extension work of the University and sbaIl be responsible for maintenance of the standsrds thereof. (6) The Dean shall be responsible to the Vice- Chancellor for the work of the different depart- ments in the Faculty. (7) The manner of appointment and functions of the Dean shall be as may be prescribed.
