Power to order certain burial and burning grounds to be closed :– (1) The municipality may by public notice order any burial or burning ground, whether registered under Section 317 or provided under Section 319 which is in its opinion dangerous or likely to be dangerous to the health of person living in the neighbourhood, or to be offensive to such persons, to be closed from a date to be specified in the notice and shall in such case, if no suitable place for, burial or burning exists at a reasonable distance, provide a fitting place for the purpose. (2) When notice is issued ordering the closing of any burial ground under sub- section (1), private burial places in such burial grounds may be excepted from the notice, subject to such conditions as the municipality may impose in this behalf: Porvided that the limits of such burial places are defined, and that they shall only be used for the burial of members of the family of the owners thereof.
