Members and Servants of Grama Panchayat to be Public Ser- vants :– All members of a Grama Panchayat or of any Committee thereof constituted under this Act and all Officers and other employees of a Grama Panchayat, every contractor or agent appointed by it for collection of any tax, toll, rates or fees and every person employed by such contractor or agent, shall be deemed to be Public Servants within the meaning of Sec- 87 tion 21 of the Indian Penal Code (45 of 1860) and in the definition of "legal remuneration" in Section 161 of the said Code, the word "Government" shall for the purpose of this Section, be deemed to include a Grama Sasan and a Grama Panchayat. NOTES Section 143-A Sarpanch is a Public servant and is employed in connection with the affairs of the State-Not removable by any authority other than the State : 1986 (I) OLR 137 : 1986 Cr LJ 1025.
