Offences and penalties (1) if any user of groundwater fails to supply information required under the provisions of this Act or the rules made thereunder or obstructs the Authority or any other person authorized by the State Government to exercise any of the powers under this Act. He shall be punished for the first offence with fine of 1000 (rupees one thousand) and for the second and subsequent offence with fine which may extend to Z2000 (rupees two thousand) or more. (2) If any user of groundwater sink, constructs or uses well in contravention of the provisions of this Act or the rules made thereunder, he shall be punished for the first offence with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 3 (three) months or with fine which may extend to Z500o (five thousand rupees), or with both and for the second and subsequent offence, with imprisonment for a term. which may extend to 6 (six) months, or with fine which may extend to 10.000 (Len thousand rupees) or with both.
