(1) The Vice Chancellor shall be responsible for the maintenance of discipline in the University and his orders in this regard shall be canied out by the officers and authorities ofthe University. (2) Notwithstanding anythmg in sub-section (I), the punishment of debarring a student h m an examhafion of the University or rusticating hirnihm the University or hostel or an institution ofthe University or any other punishment of such serious nature, shall be imposed only by the Executive Council on receipt of a report h m the Wce Chancellor: Provided that the Executive Council shall impose such a punishment only after giving the student concerned a reasonable opportunity of being heard.
