Prosecution of police officers.- Subject to Section 197 of the Code of Criminal Procedure,1973(Act no.2 of 1974), no court shall take cognizance of any offence under this Act when the accused person is a police officer except on a report in writing of the facts constituting such offence by, or with the previous sanction of an officer authorized by the State Government in this behalf.
