Punishment for vexatious search, seizure or arrest: Any officer or person exercising powers under this Act, who – (a) maliciously enter or search or causes to be search any building or house or similar dwelling place, or (b) vexatiously and unnecessarily seizes the property of any person in the pretence of seizing or searching for anything liable to confiscation under this Act, or (c) vexatiously and unnecessarily detains, searches or arrests any person; or (d) in any other way maliciously exceeds or abuses his lawful powers, shall, on conviction, be punished with imprisonment for a term of not less than ten days which may extend to three months or with fine of not less than one hundred rupees which may extend to five hundred rupees or with both.
