Head of Prisons and Correctional Services- (1) The Government shall appoint the Head of the Prisons and Correctional Services either in the rank of Director General or Inspector General, for the administration of Prisons and Correctional Services, subject to the provisions of the Act and the rules made thereunder. (2) The Head of Prisons and Correctional Services shall exercise powers and perform duties under this Act and other officers and staff of the prisons and correctional services shall work under the general supervision, control and direction of the Head of Prisons and Correctional Services. (3) The Head of Prisons and Correctional Services shall exercise such administrative, financial and disciplinary powers as may be exercised by a Head of Department and such other powers specifically conferred upon him by the Government from time to time, as may be prescribed under the rules.
