Government Chief Whip not to draw any salary as a Member;— The Government Chief Whip shall not be entitled to receive any sum out of fun& provided by the Assembly by way of salary and allowances to Members thereof: Provided that if a Minister is designated as a Government Chief Whip, he shall not be entitled to any saiary, allowances and other amenities specified in this Act and he shall be governed by the provisions of the Salaries and Allow - ances of Ministers (Manipur) Act, 1972 (Manipur Act No. 3 of 1972). srATEMEfit-OF OBJECTS AND REASONS The Working Group of IX All India Whips’ Conference recommended that of the party forming the Government should be known as GOVemment Whips. TheStatus of the Government Chief Whip should be that of a Minister. This recommendation has been considered and it is felt that the Government Chief Whip‘ should be given the Status of a Cabinet Minister.
