(l) The State Government or, subject to such rules as may be made under this Act, any Officer so empowered in this behalf, may : (u) appoint such officers with such designations, define the. local limits of jurisdittion of such olficers and assign to them respectively such powers .and duties under this act, as the State Government or such officer may deem fit; (h) invest an‘ government officer in any department, either personally, or in right of his office, or any other persons, with such powers and impose upon him such duties, under this Act, as the State Government or such Officer, may deem fit. Provided that any assignment of, or investment with powers or ilulicrt made under this section may at any time be cancelled or Varied by the State Government 011 such Officer. (2) The State Government shall have the pOWer to direct in the nutnncnprescribed the annual inspection of and submission of repurts on all irrigation works in respect of their proper maintenance utttl repair. - '
