Compensation for damages may be paid by the Commissioner 1[or General Manager].— In any case not otherwise expressly provided for in this Act, the Commissioner 2[or the General Manager] may, with the previous approval of the 3[Standing Committee or the, Brihan Mumbai Electric Supply and Transport Committee as the case may be] pay compensation to any person who sustains damage by reason of the exercise of any powers vested by this Act in the Commissioner 4[or the General Manager] or in any municipal officer or servant.
