Section 27

General penalty for offences.

Save as otherwise expressly provided in this Act, any person who contravenes any of the provisions of this Act or any rule made thereunder shall, on conviction 1 [by a Labour Court or the Industrial Court,] be punished with fine which may extend to 2 [five lakhs rupees], and in case of continued contravention thereof, with an additional fine which may extend to 3 [five thousand rupees] per day for every day during which such contravention continues.
