For section 4 of the principal Act, the following section shall be substituted, namely:_ "4. (1) There shall be a Managing Commitree for each Water Users' Association comprising members of the territorial constituencies as specifled in sub-section (2) of section 3 elected directly by the watef users' as specified in sub-clause (i) of clause (a) of sub-section (4) of section 3 from their resDective ten ilorial constituencies. (2) The Managing Committee tbr Warer Users, Associarion shall be a conrinuous body, with one third of its elected members rcti ng every two years as specified in sub-section (3). (3) The term of office of the membels of the ten.iror.ial constituencics shall, if not r€called or removed or disqualified under the plovisions of the Act, be six years fron the date of appointment of the competent authority under sub-scction (l) of section 2t: Provided that at the fi''t election, all the teritorial constituency members shall be erecled at one time, out of which one third of thc members thercof shall rctire on the compietion of two years, another one third members shall retire after completion of four years and tie remaining one third shall retire after compietion of sii years in office and their terms of retirement shall be decided before the commencement of ftst election of the members of the tenitodal constituoncies by drawal of lots. (3) If, at an elecrion held under sub_section (2), the fuesident is not elected, fi.esh elections shall be held as prescribed. (4) If the Managing committee of rhe Distributory committee does not have a wonan member. the Managing Commjftee shali co_opt a woman as a member who shail odinarily be a resident of the farmerc, organisation area. (5) The term of office of the president and the Members of the Managing Committee of the Distributory Committee shall, if not recalled or removed or. disqualified undcr the provisions of the Act earlier, be coterminous with the term ofbeneral nooy specrlred in sub_secrion (3) o[ Seclion 5.
