Regulation of washing of clothes by washermen.-- (1) The Council may, by public notice, prohibit the washing of clothes by washermen in the exercise of their calling, expect at such places as it shall appoint for this purpose and when any The Madhya Pradesh Municipalities Act, 1961 96 such prohibition has been made, no person who is, by calling, a wahsermen shall wash clothes at any place not appointed for this purpose by the Council, expect for such person himself or for the owner or occupier of such place. (2) The Council may provide suitable places for the exercise by washermen of their calling, and may require payment of such fees for the use of any such place as shall from time to time determined by it. (3) The Council shall, before issuing any public notice under sub-section (1), publish in such manner as shall in its opinion be sufficient for the information of persons likely to be affected thereby a list of washing places proposed to be provided under sub-section (2), together with a notice specifying a date on or after which the list shall be taken into consideration; and shall before finally fixing the said places, receive and consider any objection or suggestion in respect thereto which may be made, in writing, by any person before the date so specified.
