(1) The Government shall have the right to cause an inspection to be made by such person or persons as the Government may direct of the University, its buildings, laboratories, libraries, museums, workshops and equipments of any of institution, college [x x x x] or hostel maintained or administered by the University of the teaching and other work conducted or done by the University or under its auspices and of the conduct of any other functions of the University and to cause an inquiry to be made in respect of any matter connected with the administration and finances of the University. The University shall caused to transfer any document [including digitally stored] connected with such enquiry to the inspection committee. [(2) The Government shall, before causing an inspection or inquiry to be made under sub-section (1), give due notice of such inspection or enquiry, as the case may be, at least ten days before, to the University and the Registrar shall be vested with the responsibility to appear before such inspection or enquiry and to give required information.] (3) The Government shall communicate to the University the views of the Government with reference to the results of such inspection or inquiry for its opinion thereon and may, after obtaining the same, advise the University as to the action to be taken in pursuance thereof and fix a time limit for taking such action. (4) The University shall, within the time limits so fixed, report to the Government the action which has been taken or is proposed to be taken on the advice rendered by the Government. (5) The Government may, where action has not been taken by the University to the satisfaction of the Government within the time limit fixed, after considering any explanation furnished or representation made by the University, issue such directions as the Government may think fit and the University shall comply with such directions. (6) Notwithstanding anything contained in sub-sections (1) to (5), if at any time the Government are of the opinion that the affairs of the University are not managed in furtherance of the objects of the University or in accordance with the provisions of this Act and the Statutes, Ordinances and Regulations made thereunder or that special measures are desirable to maintain the standards of teaching of the University, the Government may indicate to the University any matter in regard to which consider to have an explanation and call upon the University to offer such explanation within such time as may be specified by the Government. (7) If the University fails to offer any explanation within the time specified under sub-section (6) or offers an explanation which in the opinion of the Government is unsatisfactory, the Government may issue such instructions as may appear to them to be necessary and desirable in the circumstances of the case and may exercise such powers as deem necessary for giving effect [to the said directions] [the authority concerned of the University shall be bound to implement such directions.] [(8) The responsibility of timely furnishing of any information relating to the administration of the University, required by the Government shall be vested with the Registrar.] Omitted by Act 18 of 2021 published in K.
