Alteration of improvement scheme qfter sanction.-At any time after nn improvement scheme has been :sanctioned by the Gove1nment and before it has been carried into execution, the Board mny alter or cancel it: Provided that- (a) if any alteration is considered likely to ~increase the estimat- ed net cost of executing a scheme by more than five per cent or by more than Rs. 50,000, such alteration shall not be made without the previous sanction of the Government; (b) if any alteration involves the acquisition, otherwise than by agreement, of any land the acquisition of which ha'l not been sanction- ed by the Government, the procedure prescribed in the foregoing sections of this Chapter shall, so far as it may be applicable, he follow- ed as if the alteration were a separate scheme; (c) if, owing to any alteration, any land not previously liable under the scheme to the payment of a betterment fee becomrs liable to such payment, the procedure prescribed in sections 47, 49 and 51 shall so far as it may be applicable, be followed in regard to such land: ' Provided further that no scheme shall be cancelled under this section without the previous sanction of the Government.
