(1) The Government may, for the purpose of securing public safety or the maintenance of public order or the maintenance of supplies and services essential to the life of the community, by general or special order, prohibit, restrict or impose conditions upon the holding of processions, meetings or assemblies. (2) Any police officer may take such steps, and use such force as may be reasonably necessary for securing compliance with any order made under this section. (3) If any person contravenes any order made under this section, he shall be punishable with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to three years or with fine or with both.
