(1) The Government may, by notification in the Gazette, appoint for such area as may be notified a local supervising authority consisting of such members as may be specified in such notification to exercise general supervision over nurses, midwives, auxiliary nurse-midwives, health visitors and dhais within such area and to exercise and perform such other powers and duties as may be prescribed by rules. (2) The Government may, subject to such conditions and restrictions as may be prescribed by rules, appoint a chief supervising authority to exercise control over local supervising authorities
