Section 419

Cleaning of insanitary private tank or well, the water of which is used for drinking etc.

(1) The Secretary may, by notice, require the owner or person having control over any private water course, spring, tank, well or other place the water of which is used for drinking, bathing or washing clothes, to keep the same in good repair and to cleanse it of silt, refuse or vegitation and to protect it from pollution by surface drainage in such manner as he may think fit. (2) Where the water of any place which is used for drinking, bathing or washing clothes, as the case may be, is proved to the satisfaction of the Secretary to be unfit for the said purpose, the Secretary may, by notice, require the owner or person having control thereof to- (a) refrain from using or permitting the use of such water; or (b) close or fill in such place or enclose it with a substantial wall or fence.
