Penalty for contravention of Act by Employer.—If any employer contravenes any of the provisions of this Act, he shall be punishable with fine which may extend to two hundred and fifty rupees and where the contravention is of the provision relating to the payment of maternity benefit, and where the amount has not been already recovered the court shall recover the amount due on account of maternity benefit as if it were a fine and pay such amount to the person entitled thereto.
