(1) The amount or annuity, as the case may be, payable under section 4 shall be paid to the persons whose names have been entered in the roll as being entitled thereto. (2) Where before any court or any authority any suit or proceeding is pending which directly or indirectly affects or is likely to affect the right of any person to receive the whole or part of the amount or annuity, as the case may be, payable under section 4, the court or authority may require the Settlement Officer to place at its disposal the amount or annuity so payable, and thereupon the same shall be disposed of in accordance with the orders of such court or authority.
