Fishermen's Welfare Societies.—(1) The Government shall, by notification in the Gazette, constitute a fishermen's welfare society for each fisheries village by such name as may be specified in the notification. (2) Every society shall be a body corporate by the name under which it is constituted, having perpetual succession and a common seal, with power to acquire, hold and 1 Substituted by Act 26 of 1986 (w.e.f. 29th November, 1984). 5 dispose of property, both movable and immovable, enter into contracts, institute and defend suits and other legal proceedings and to do all things necessary for the purposes for which it is constituted.
