(1) The designated authority shall verify the correctness of the particulars furnished in the application made under section 11 with reference to all relevant records and determine the amount payable at the rates and in such manner, as specified in section 13 read with section 11. (2) The designated authority shall demand the amount short paid by the applicant with reference to the amount in sub-sections (1), (2) and (3) of section 11 in such form and manner as may be prescribed. (3) The demand under sub-section (2) shall be paid within thirty days of receipt of the form referred to in sub-section (2) by the applicant. (4) The amount determined under the provisions of this section shall be rounded off to the nearest rupee and, for this purpose, where such amount contains a part of a rupee, and, if such part is fifty paise or more, it shall be rounded off to the nearest rupee, and if such part is less than fifty paise, it shall be ignored.
