(1) In this Scheme, unless the context otherwise requires.- (a) 'Act' means the Kerala Co-operative societies Act, 1969 (21 of 1969); (b) 'appointing authority' in respect of an employee of a society means the committee of that society. (c) 'average pay' means the average of pay drawn by an employee of a society during the [last ten months] of his qualifying service; (d) 'Board' means the Kerala State Co-operative Employees Pension Board constituted under paragraph 4; (e) 'date of retirement' means the last day of the month in which the employee attains the age of 58 years or an earlier date on which he is permitted to retire by the appointing authority. 1A[In the case of part-time contingent employees, commission agents, employees not in the regular posts but who were absorbed in regular service date of retirement shall be on attaining the age of 70 years.] 1B[(f) Employee means a person appointed in the service of a co-operative society registered under the Kerala Co-operative Societies Act, 1969, against a sanctioned post or in a post approved by the competent authority under the said Act and who is working on a full time, regular and paid basis including part-time contingent employees, commission agents, security staff and such other categories of employees.] [(g) 'Pay' includes (i) Basic Pay (ii) Special Pay (iii) Personal Pay (iv) Dearness Allowance (v) any other amount ordered to be treated as pay such as consolidated pay.] (h) 'qualifying service' means service reckoned for the purpose of pension under this Scheme. (i) 'Secretary' means the Secretary of the Board. (j) 'superannuation pension' means pension sanctioned to an employee who retires on the last day of the month in which he attains the age of 58 years. (2) Words and expressions used but not defined in this Scheme and defined in the Kerala Co-operative Societies Act, (2t of 1969), shall have the meanings respectively assigned to them under that Act.
