Penalty for secreting, destroying or altering register.- Any person secreting, destroying or dishonestly or fraudulently altering the memorandum or the register or any part thereof shall, on conviction, be punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to two years and with fine which may extend to two thousand rupees.
