Composition of offences.—(1) Any offence punishable under this Act or any rule made thereunder may be compounded by an officer of the Animal Husbandry Department not below the rank of Assistant Director of Animal Husbandry having jurisdiction over the area in which the offence is committed, on payment of an amount fixed by that officer. 5 (2) On the composition of an offence under sub-section (1), the person concerned, if in custody, shall be set at liberty, and if proceedings in any criminal court have been instituted against such person in respect of the offence, the composition shall be deemed to amount to an acquittal and no further proceedings shall be taken against such person in respect of such offence.
