Naming of Public streets.- (1) The Chief Commissioner, with the sanction of the Mayor may, with the sanction of the Corporation, determine the name by which any street or public place vested in the Corporation shall be known and may, at any time, alter the name of such a street: Provided that, before such naming or renaming, the opinion of the Ward Committees concerned shall be taken into consideration. (2) No person shall, without lawful authority, destroy, remove, pull down, deface or in any way injure or alter any such name put up or paint any name put up or painted by order of the Zonal Commissioner. 103 (3) The Zonal Commissioner shall cause to be put up or painted in English and Kannada on a conspicuous part of some building, wall or place, at or near each end, corner or entrance the name of every public street.
