Vacancy in office of chairman and Vice- Chairman.- (1) A member holding office as Chairman or Vice Chairman may resign his office at any time by writing under his hand addressed to the 1[Director of Agricultural Marketing]1 and the office shall become vacant on the expiry of fifteen clear days from the date of such resignation, unless, within the said period of fifteen days, he withdraws such resignation in writing under his hand addressed to the 1[Director of Agricultural Marketing]1. (2) Every Chairman or Vice-chairman shall vacate office if he ceases to be a member of the market committee. (3) During the Vacancy in the office of the Chairman and when there is no Vice- Chairman to take his place, then, notwithstanding anything contained in this Act, 2[an officer appointed in this behalf by the Director of Agricultural Marketing]2 shall exercise the powers and perform the functions of the Chairman until a Chairman or Vice-Chairman is duly elected. 3[Proviso x x x]3
