Term of office of Chairman or Vice- Chairman 3[x x x]3.- (1) Save as otherwise provided in this Act, the Chairman and Vice Chairman shall continue in office 4[for a term of twenty months or for the term of the market committee whichever is earlier]4 (2) Notwithstanding anything contained in this Act on the expiry of the term of office of the Chairman and Vice-Chairman and of the market committee, the Tahsildar of the Taluk in which the yard is situated shall exercise the powers and perform the functions of the market committee and its Chairman untill the market committee is reconstituted and its Chairman is elected. 66 1[Provided that the 2[Director of Agricultural Marketing]2 may, at any time thereafter appoint any other officer to exercise the powers and perform the functions of the market committee and its Chairman. 3[(3) x x x]3]1
