Review by the Government after publication of census report (1) The State Government shall undertake a review of the existing municipalities wherever they consider necessary and upgrade or reorganize them, having regard to the peri-urban areas and the out growths of the existing Municipal Corporation, Municipal Council and Nagar Panchayat, as the case may be, within one year after taking into consideration the Census report published by the Government of India. (2) The Government may also consider converting panchayats into Nagar Panchayats after publication of census report by Government of India: Provided that the procedure laid down for constitution of a municipal area shall be followed mutatis mutandis in each such case.
