Power of Collector in certain proceedings under this Act.- For the purposes of every enquiry made and proceedings taken under this Act, the Collector, or any other revenue officer, authorised by him in this behalf, or any other officer authorised by the Government shall have power to summon and enforce the attendance of, and examine parties and witnesses and compel the production of documents, and, for all or any of these purposes, may exercise all or any of the powers conferred on a civil court by 24 THE HIMACHAL PRADESH MINOR CANALS ACT, 1976 the Code of Civil Procedure, 1908 (5 of 1908), and every such inquiry shall for the purposes of the Indian Penal Code, 1860 (45 of 1860), be deemed to be judicial proceedings.
