Penalty for contravention of Act, rules and bye-laws.- Any person who contravenes any of the provisions of this Act, or any rule or bye- laws or order issued thereunder or fails to perform the duties assigned under this Act shall, on conviction, be punished with simple imprisonment which may extend to three months or with fine which may extend to one thousand rupees or with both: Provided that in the case of a continuing contravention, he shall be liable to be punished with a further fine which may extend to fifty rupees for every day during which the contravention is continued after the first conviction.
