(1) The compensation payable under section 26 Compensation , may be paid in such annual instalments not exceeding six instalments, as may be prescribed, (2) Every instalment of compensation shall be de- posited in a Government treasury or sub-treasury or paid to such authority as may be prescribed within fifteen days of the date of its becoming due and receipt therefor shall be furnished to the prescribed authority. (3) Where any instalment of compensation is not deposited in a Government treasury or sub-treasury or paid to the prescribed authority within the period of fifteen days specified in sub-section (2), the prescribed authority shall, of its own motion or on the application of the landowner concerned, take steps within one month from the expiry of the said period of fifteen days for the recovery of such instalment in the manner provided in section 49, 138 TENANCY AND AGRICULTURAL [1955 : Pepsu Act 13 LANDS (4) Interest at the rate of two and a half per cent per annum shall be payable on the amount of any instalment which is not paid within time from the date when the instalment became due.
