(1) Notwithstanding anything contained in these Statutes, a person, who is a member of any authority or body of the University in his capacity as a member of a particular authority or body or as a holder of particular appointment, shall hold office so long only as he continues to be a member of that particular authority or body or the holder of that particular appointment, as the case may be: Provided that teacher-member of any authority or body of the University who resigns his services or proceeds on leave for six months or more shall cease to be a member of the respective body and a substitute shall be appointed. If the period of his leave is less than six months, his membership shall be held in abeyance till his return or the expiry of the period of six months, whichever is later. No substitute member shall be appointed or elected, where the membership is held in abeyance. (2) If a teacher is on leave for a period of six months or more, he shall not be eligible for nomination or re-election for that particular vacancy.
