(1) The following facilities shall be provided in work-sheds and other places where prisoners work, namely :– (a) protection from heat, cold, rain, dust, smoke, fumes, gases and chemicals; (b) protection from seepage and dampness; (c) safe drinking water and washroom facilities; (d) first-aid facilities; (e) fire extinguisher or other suitable firefighting equipment; (f) sufficient ventilation and lighting; and (g) safety equipment and accident prevention measures. (2) Monthly medical examination of prisoners, working in production units having hazards of occupational diseases, shall be carried out. (3) The payment of compensation to prisoners who meet with accidents resulting in physical or mental disability, serious injury, death, or loss of health due to occupational diseases, as certified by the Medical Officer. (4) A daily time schedule shall be worked out for each unit. Prisoners to be trained in farming and agriculture.
