(1) The members of the Board shall be afforded every facility for observing the state of the prison and the management thereof and shall be allowed access, under proper regulations, to all parts of the prison and every prisoner confined therein. They shall ordinarily not visit the high-security areas unless duly instructed in this behalf by the Director General. (2) Visits shall not be made after prisoners have been locked for the night and on prison holidays. (3) Due respect shall be paid to the visitors. Their requests for information shall be complied with in accordance with these rules. (4) No visitor shall be allowed to go round a prison without an escort of guarding personnel which is necessary for his safety. No visitor shall be allowed to carry any weapon with him or his armed personal security officers with him while visiting the prison. (5) Except on the occasion of visit by the Board, no visitor shall claim to be accompanied on his rounds by the Superintendent or Deputy Superintendent. (6) In the absence of express consent of the Superintendent, the Visitors shall not be allowed to interview more than one prisoner at a time. Anything in the nature of a meeting or conference whether for the discussion of political topics or the ventilation of prison grievances shall be strictly prohibited. (7) All private interviews with the prisoners shall normally be subject to a time limit of ten minutes. Date of visit to be recorded.
