(1) Every staff member who is found to be guilty of any violation of duty or willful breach or neglect of any rule or regulation or lawful order made by competent authority, or who withdraws from the duties of his office without permission, or without having given two months’ advance notice in writing of his intention to do so, or who willfully overstays any leave granted to him, or who engages without authority in any employment other than his prison duty, or who is guilty of cowardice, shall be liable on conviction before a Judicial magistrate if the Superintendent decides to get him prosecuted, to a fine not exceeding three thousand rupees, or to imprisonment for a period not exceeding three months, or both. (2) No personnel shall be subjected to double jeopardy. Effect of criminal case.
