(1) The gate-keeper shall compulsorily search every person entering into or going out of the prison except the following, - (a) Justices of the Honorable Supreme Court and the High Courts; (b) members of the National Human Rights Commission, the National/State Women Commission and the Members of any Commission appointed by the Honorable Court or Government or members of the State Human Right Commission; (c) members of the Council of Ministers of the Central and State Government; (d) members of Parliament and Members of Legislative Assembly; (e) District and Session Judges and all subordinate Judicial Officers on official visit; (f) Divisional Commissioner and the District Magistrate; (g) Superintendent of Police; (h) Medical Officer, officers of the rank of Deputy Superintendent and above of the Department. (2) The Superintendent in special cases or on special occasions may by an order, exempt from compulsory search any person/s. (3) In case the gate-keeper has reasons to suspect that any officer ordinarily exempted from search is introducing or removing prohibited articles, he may detain the person between the gates and send notice to the Deputy Superintendent (Security) who shall himself search the person. A copy of this order shall be hung up in the passage between the main gates for general information: Provided that the Superintendent on an information or suspicion, may by general or special orders, cause the compulsory search of any officer/person ordinarily exempt from search.
