The Head Warder (Central Control Room) under immediate charge of Assistant Superintendent (Central Control Room) shall, - (a) supervise all barrack in his charge at the time of unlocking, the mid day count and the locking-up of prisoners, in the distribution for labour in the morning and at mid day and report to the executive in charge of the barrack and Assistant Superintendent (Central Control Room); (b) shall regulate movements of prisoners going for Court appearance, Interview, canteen, hospital visit, vocational training, educational classes etc. in a disciplined manner; (c) visit all the wards/barracks/cells and other buildings during his duty hours and satisfy himself that the guarding personnel and Convict Watchman are present at their posts and alert; (d) supervise the distribution of food and the conservancy arrangements; (e) cause all grills, gratings, doors, locks or other openings of enclosures and barracks in which prisoners are confined, to be secured, and satisfy himself by personal inspection that they are secure and to report the discrepancies, if any; (f) pay surprise visits to all gangs working inside the prison and count and check the number of prisoners in each gang from the gang-books. He shall satisfy himself during his rounds that the guarding personnel keep all prisoners within sight and employ them as per the labour allotted to them and shall report any disobedience of the rules and regulations to the Assistant Superintendent (Central Control Room) and Deputy Superintendent concerned. (g) ascertain from the female warder once in the forenoon and once in the afternoon, that the count is correct and all is well. (h) issue all necessary tools, implements, raw materials and other articles required for the day’s work and to make a record of all articles so issued; (i) collect all such articles, together with the produce, if any, of the prisoners’ labour after the period prescribed for work is over each evening; (j) satisfy himself that all articles issued have been duly returned to him or accounted for; (k) measure or check the task, if any, performed by each prisoner and note the same in the labour register.
