(1) An Officer of the rank not below Head Warder, as specified by the general or special orders of the Superintendent, shall perform the duties as Duty Officer. (2) The Duty Officers shall work in three shifts viz. from 06:00 AM to 02:00 PM, 02:00 PM to 10:00 PM, and 10:00PM to 06:00AM. (3) The Duty Officer shall be in charge of the main gate. He shall supervise the change of shift of guarding personnel during the hours of his duties. (4) The Duty Officer shall frequently visit the CCTV Control Room in the administrative block and shall take at least two rounds of the prison during his duty hours and ensure that the guarding personnel on duty are alert, sufficient lighting arrangement during the night is available and the prisoners are secure and under safe custody. He shall record a detailed report in the Duty Officer’s Report Book stating the actual time of commencement and termination of the rounds prescribed hereinbefore, stating therein that he has carried out these duties and noting down any untoward occurrence or irregularity that he may have come to his note. NOTE.- The Report Book shall be put up before Deputy Superintendent (Administration) and Deputy Superintendent (Security) daily by the Line Officer. (5) The Duty Officer shall attend to every report during his duty hours and shall take every such measure as necessary and inform the Deputy Superintendent (Administration) and Deputy Superintendent (Security) in case of any emergency.
