(1) The Deputy Superintendent (Security) shall be duty bound to maintain internal vigilance on the conduct of staff members, in particular as a check against corrupt practices. He shall keep an eye on the activities of the prisoners from lock-out to lock up during day time. Prisoners shall not be allowed to move unnecessarily. (2) It shall also be the duty of Deputy Superintendent (Security) to ensure deployment of guarding personnel through Line Officer in consultation with Deputy Superintendent (Administration), Deputy Superintendent (Industries and Welfare) under the supervision of the Superintendent. (3) He shall cause to ensure that no prohibited article is admitted inside the prison and no such article or activity which may endanger the security of the prison be allowed inside the prison. For this purpose, he shall cause to ensure the following, namely – (a) Search of prisoners at main gate (deodi) at the time of their entry and exit; (b) Search of staff members at main gate (deodi) at the time of their entry and exit; (c) Search of articles passing in and out of prison. (4) He shall ensure that every article brought in to or taken out of the prison is in keeping with the gate pass and the particulars of such articles are entered in the register concerned. 1352 HARYANA GOVT. (6) The other heads of duties of the Deputy Superintendent (Security) shall include the following, namely – (a) conducting ‘Alarm Parades’; (b) handling of riots and public order disturbances in prison; (c) responding to a medical emergency on priority, in liaison with Deputy Superintendent (Administration); (d) liaison officer (point-of-contact) for all matters related to the security of the prison; (e) regulation of leave of guarding staff; (f) efficient functioning of Control Room; (g) monitoring the use of prisoner’s audio/video calling system; (h) liaison with the local police station and police authorities for follow-up of investigations of cases registered for crimes inside the prison.
