(1) Suitable arrangements shall be made to supply every prisoner with a sufficient quantity of potable drinking water. It shall be the responsibility of the warder on duty to see that sufficient drinking water is available before the prisoners are locked-in. Prisoners at work shall be supplied with an adequate supply of drinking water. If water is to be stored, it shall be done in covered receptacles which must be thoroughly cleaned every day. There shall be no garbage dump or sewerage tank within a radius of 15 Meters from a tube well or water tank. (2) Overhead tanks and reservoirs shall be quarterly cleaned and sterilized with bleach solution. (3) Any undue wet patches on the ground or undue green patches along the pipeline shall be viewed with suspicion as they are indicators of leakage. Such pipes shall be dug up and the defects repaired. Supply of water to staff quarters. 501. An adequate supply of water shall also be ensured to the residential quarters of the prison staff. Every officer occupying staff quarters shall be held responsible for the cleanliness of his premises.
