(1) Extra items of dietary articles, to be decided by the Director General from time to time, may be given to the prisoners on national days, festivals, or other special occasions apart from the following, namely – (a) New Year (b) Republic Day (c) Holi (d) Independence Day (e) Id-ul-Fittar (f) Diwali (g) Haryana Day (2) Prisoners who observe religious fasts may receive extra articles of food suitable for such fasts as per local practices or may have the whole or a part of their meal at a place and time of day, as may be allowed by the Director General for the proper observance of fasts by them. (3) When any person or association offers to provide fruits or sweets on any special occasion to the entire population of the prison, it may be allowed at the discretion of the Superintendent. If provision for food is intended to be made by such person or organization, the same shall be required to be supplied in the form of raw ration which shall be cooked in the prison and issued to prisoners as desired by the donor, and the fact shall be recorded in the Superintendent’s Journal under intimation to the Director General.
