Undertrial prisoners and convicted prisoners shall be classified as per the classification laid out in Chapter 5 of these rules. (a) Every prisoner shall receive a serial number corresponding with the entry relating to him in the admission register. (b) Prisoner’s number and the alphabetical letter signifying his class shall precede his name whenever he is referred to in any official communication. (c) When any reference is made to the Director General concerning any prisoner, a descriptive roll of the prisoner duly filled shall be sent with it. Intimation to police in case of release of a prisoner from the prison.
