All prisoners with mental illness shall be transferred to a mental health establishment having all the facilities prescribed under the Mental Healthcare Act, 2017 (Central Act 10 of 2017) and the rules framed thereunder. However, till such transfer the prisoner shall be transferred to the psychiatric ward of the medical establishment of the prison.
