(1) Female prisoners shall be required to keep themselves clean, and to this end, they shall be provided with sanitary napkins, towels, and toiletries necessary for maintaining hygiene. Sufficient water shall also be made available for the use of female prisoners and their children, and those prisoners, in particular, who are involved in cooking and those who are pregnant, breastfeeding or menstruating. (2) A female prisoner's hair shall not be cut without her consent: Provided that if on account of vermin or dirt, the medical officer deems cutting of hair necessary on the ground of health and hygiene, the hair shall not be cut shorter than required.
