Section 309

(1) Prisoners may be produced before the Court in person or through electronic means

(1) Prisoners may be produced before the Court in person or through electronic means. Necessary infrastructure and manpower for the production or trial of under trial prisoners through electronic means, as per law and guidelines on the subject, shall be established in every prison. (2) For this purpose, a Court diary shall be maintained in which all relevant entries of production before various Courts shall be made. These entries shall be made daily by the officials concerned and signed by the in charge undertrial section. (3) The names of all prisoners to be produced each day before the Magistrate must be entered in the Court diary by the officer designated as Court officer, whose duty shall be to ensure the punctual attendance of prisoners in the Court on the day fixed. The Court Officer so designated shall place the diary before the Deputy Superintendent (Administration) along with their warrants and obtain written acknowledgement for production of prisoners before the court concerned. The Deputy Superintendent (Administration) or any other officer so designated on this behalf shall also initial in this diary, the entry of the name of every prisoner received from the court either on remand or conviction. (4) Based on the Court diary, requisition for police escort shall be sent to the police officer designated by the District Superintendent of Police for this purpose, sufficiently in advance. The police officer so designated shall be responsible to provide the police escort along with transport for the production of the prisoners as per the rules Belongings of under trial prisoners.
