(1) The Superintendent may at his discretion grant interviews at shorter intervals than provided under these rules, despite the prisoner’s misconduct if he considers that special or urgent grounds exist for such concession, as for example, in the event of the prisoner being seriously ill or on the occurrence of the death of a near relative or if the family members or relatives have come from a distance to see the prisoner and it would be an undue hardship on them to refuse an interview, or if the prisoner is nearing release and wishes to secure employment, or for other sufficient cause. Matters of importance, such as the death of a relative, may also be communicated at any time by the family of a prisoner to the Superintendent, who may, if he thinks it expedient, inform the prisoner of the substance of the communication. (2) The Superintendent may permit a prisoner, other than a condemned prisoner, to see another prisoner who is a family member, in a hospital outside the prison subject to the following conditions, (a) in case the prisoner in hospital is seriously ill; (b) in case hospital is situated in the same city or town; (c) in case prisoner is sent under adequate escort as the Superintendent may decide; and (3) The prisoner shall return to the prison immediately after seeing the prisoner in the hospital 1264 HARYANA GOVT.
