(1) An appeal against the decision or order of a debt settlement officer in any local area, may be made in such manner and within such period and on payment of such fee as may be prescribed, to the Appellate Officer appointed by the State Government for the purpose of hearing appeals under this Act in such local area. (2) The Appellate Officer may, after following such procedure as may be prescribed and after giving the parties an opportunity of being heard, either confirm or modify the decision or order made by the debt settlement officer or direct the debt settlement officer to take such action as the Appellate Officer thinks fit. (3) An order passed in appeal by an Appellate Officer under this section shall be final.
